Do only older people have a hearing loss?

We often hear this in our Audiology practice in George… Many people think that hearing loss is age related. Hearing loss can happen at any age! While one cause of hearing loss is the aging process, many things can cause hearing loss to occur at young ages as well.

Did you know that approximately 15% of American adults (37.5 million) aged 18 and older report some trouble hearing (NIDCD)? Hearing loss can happen at any stage of life. It is very common for younger people that have been around loud noise or have a genetic history of hearing loss to be affected by hearing loss. As a result, your overall quality of life begins to get influenced.
