Receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids:
Receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids sit comfortably behind the ear with an almost invisible wire connecting to a receiver (the speaker of the hearing aid). The receiver sits discreetly in the ear canal and transmits sound directly to the ear (resulting in optimum sound clarity). RIC hearing aids are the most popular style of hearing aid due to their comfort and discreet appearance.
Instant fit hearing aids:
Instant fit hearing aid devices sit discreetly in the ear canal but don’t require a custom impression of the ear shape. The soft silicone sleeves allow for a comfortable fitting in the ear. As instant fit devices don’t require a custom mould, they can be dispensed immediately.
In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids:
In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids are custom made to fit the shape and size of your ear. They are designed to fit majority of external ear canals. This style of hearing aid can have a volume control button as well as a program control button built into them. These hearing aids use similar technology to behind-the-ear hearing aids.
Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids:
Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids fit neatly behind the ear and deliver sound into the ear through a tube. The tube sits comfortably in the ear through a custom made earmould or a soft dome.
